Référential continuity : Choosing Words in English and French texts in the Middle Ages and during the Modern/Contemporary period

The central theme of this conference will welcome studies concerned with the linguistic process aimed at ensuring referential continuity as well as those dealing with lexical and semantic choices. The periods will be either the late Middle Ages (14th and 15th centuries) or the modern/ contemporary era.

The advisory board will review all submissions proposing monolingual or contrastive approaches to Middle French, Anglo Norman and Middle English for the medieval period, and between modern / contemporary English and French for the corresponding period—e.g. comparisons between linguistic processes or lexical choices either in literary texts of an identical, similar or even different genre, or between source texts and their translations, or between different media, or between speakers with different native languages (written forms of spoken discourse or dialogue between English or French speaking people locutors, back and forth movements between the two languages).
